Viva la Verve Week 4

This is the final weekly challenge for the month – VLVJuly2010 – I’m glad I could get all four challenges done. I’m heading to the east coast on Tuesday for three weeks, so I’m not going to get a chance to upload many more cards before I go. My relatives and I decided (last year) to put together a reunion for as many of our family members as possible. My mom was from Newfoundland, and most of her relatives are still there. It is a beautiful, rural area of the province, and I can’t wait to take my husband and two teenaged boys. I think they will have a bit of a culture shock, but I hope the R & R does us all a little good.

Anyway, this week Amber gave us a great sketch to work with:

We got to choose our own inspiration photo from the “Bath” section of Bed Bath & Beyond. Here is the shower curtain I chose for my inspiration:

I rifled through a bunch of my patterened paper and came up with something that I think worked pretty well with the shower pattern. So, here are the details of my card:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white, Sahara Sand, Early Espresso
Patterned Paper – Kate Knight for Dovecraft “A Hint of Pink”
Stamp – Verve “Forever in Our Hearts”
Ink – Momento Rich Cocoa, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray
Accessories – Cuttlebug EF “Birds & Swirls”, Oval Nestabilities, grey satin ribbon, Bow Easy, silver charm, silver cord, dimensionals

Thanks for having a look!

A no good reason card

I shouldn’t really say that – I stamped the image (who makes this again – I’d appreciate anyone who can tell me since I don’t own any of these kinds of stamps) at the Copic Certification course I took in Toronto a while back. I hadn’t coloured it until last night. I had some patterned paper beside me so I used the colours from that. I knew I’d find a sketch at some point that would showcase the image (and hopefully my colouring). I searched through some old sketch challenges that I had printed off a long time ago, and found an Our Creative Corner sketch I thought would fit the image and papers. I’m not even sure which date this sketch challenge this is from, but I thank the gals over there, nonetheless!

Here is my recipe:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white, Poppy Parade (SU)
Patterned Paper – Basic Grey
Stamps – you tell me! (main image), Gina K. “Tag Lines” (sentiment)
Ink – Momento Tuxedo Black, copic markers
Accessories – oval and scalloped oval nesties, yellow grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals

C’est tout (that’s all)! This one was fun to make! Thanks for having a look!

Color Challenge #280 (SCS)

I made two cards today – one for today’s Color Challenge over at SCS (CC280) which also incorporated an older sketch challenge (SC97). I couldn’t find the sketch to show you, but trust me, it is very similar to my layout: I wasn’t sure what image I was going to use, but I had this patterned paper from Basic Grey (June Bug) already picked out. Here is the rest of the card recipe:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white, Peach Parfait and Regal Rose (SU)
Patterned Paper – Basic Grey (June Bug)
Ink – Momento Rich Cocoa, copic markers, sakura gel pen for a wee bit of glitter
Stamps – Flourishes, Lizzie Anne Designs
Accessories – SU punches (oval and scallop oval), nesties (rectangle and scalloped rectangle), cuttlebug and dimensionals (SU)

Many thanks for having a look!

Bride & Groom

Well I’m glad the Mojo Monday sketch challenge is over! I did make a second card yesterday – something much cleaner and simpler. Guess what, it was the CAS challenge (CAS76) over at SCS. We were given a sketch to work with. I went a little over the top on this one – adding more layers than I planned to, but I am happy with the way it turned out. The card measures 4.75 x 4.75.

Here are the details:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white, Basic Black (SU)
Accessories – SU rub-ons (Chit Chat – retired), SU white satin ribbon turned into a flower (kind-of), dollar store brad, sewing maching & thread, dimensionals, Spellbinders Fleurs de Lis pendant, SU corner rounder

Not a lot to the card, really, is there. I am trying to use a few of my newest acquisitions. I am planning on putting a halt to my craft spending (who the heck am I kidding?, I just tell my hubby that!), so you may see many similar supplies over the next year.

Thanks for having a look.

Not so much Mojo Monday…

…I was feeling kind of tired today and not really sure I wanted to participate in the Mojo Monday (MOJO148). Sometimes I think the sketch is too tough for me, especially if there are lots of layers. Well, I decided to go ahead anyway and make a card. I think it is way over the top and just plain ugly! The only thing I like about it is the patterned paper. Good grief – it’s not even worth elaborating on. I hope I don’t makesomething this hideous again!!

SCS Featured Stamper

This week Latisha (1busymomof2) is featured on Splitcoaststampers. I love her gallery – very clean, very simple, but wonderful papers and textures are used. I thought I’d create a card today for the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS180). This is the card I chose to case of Latisha’s: I knew I had a lamp stamp, acutally, it was a trio of lamps, but I only stamped one of them. I paper pieced the lamp shade, twice actually, but I didn’t pop the patterned paper up like Latisha did (I wished I had though – I think it would have looked a lot better). I changed out the patterened paper, stamp, sentiment and ribbon treatment. After I took a look at my card, I realized the bow/ribbon totally overpowered my card. I should also have moved the lamp panel up to the mid-way point on the card. It looks totally off balance. Oh well.

Here is the recipe:
Card Stock – Neenah 80 lb. smooth white
Patterned Paper – Basic Grey “Bittersweet” paper pad
Stamp: Sunshine Designs “House on the Hill”
Ink – Momento Tuxedo Black, SU markers
Acessories – Rectangle Nestabilities, dollar store satin ribbon, PTI Vintage buttons, embroidery floss, dimensionals

Thanks for having a look. Enjoy the day!

Verve Week #3 and Moxy Inspiration

I really love trying to come up with a card that is representative of the inspiration piece and the sketch we are given in the Vive la Verve challenge. This is week three and here is the sketch and inpiration image (New Colony) I choose from ThemeBathroom . I also made this card for the Card Style Classy and Elegant Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. We were able to pick our favourite image from the Theme Bathroom blog instead of getting 3 images given to us. I tell you, I spent a long time trying to find a bathroom image that I thought I could make into a card, given the sketch. I decided to pull out the Fleur de Lis Spellbinders pendant set and feature the smaller pendant as my square focal point. I recently went to Coast Paper (in Vaughan, ON – just north of Toronto, actaully still part of it) where I could buy 250 sheets of paper for $20 and up (110 lb. too!). I bought some solar white Neenah paper as well and some off-white paper. I was also able to score some envelopes (250) for a great price. I won’t need to buy paper for quite some time! Anyway, here is my card:

Here are the details:
Card Stock – 110 lb. off white, Basic Black (SU)
Patterned paper – beige with a slight swirl pattern that you can’t see (from stash)
Ink – Momento Tuxedo Black
Accessories – Spellbinders Fleur de Lis pendant, SU oval punch and scallop oval punch, black organza ribbon, off white button from stash, Bow Easy, off white embroidery floss

I hope you like it – thanks for having a look!

Friendship Joy

I hung out with a good friend for lunch today. I’ve know Laurel (aka Durham Stamper on SCS) for well over 20 years (gasp!). She’s a pretty avid stamper too and it was so nice to see her. I’ll send this to her tomorrow: I think I incorporated almost all of the colours in the card that show up in the patterned paper 🙂 Here is my card recipe:

Card Stock – PTI, Pink Pirouette, Lavender Lace, Peach Parfait
Patterned Paper – We R Memory Keepers (Madame Royale)
Stamp – Verves Rubber Stamps “Souls in this World”
Ink – Momento Tuxedo Black ink
Accessories – Kiwi Kiss, Orange ribbon (both satin) made into a flower, brad (from dollar store), dimensionals, MS border punch, sewing machine

That all for now. Thanks for looking.

SCS Color Challenge

Today’s Splitcoast Color Challenge (CC279) calls for us to use Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist. I also wanted to play over at Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge (MTSC82). I love Mercy’s sketches. They are just the right level of challenge for me. I decided to make a card for my friend, Joanne. I was supposed to get together with her today for a little bit to stamp some images to colour later (stamps I don’t have but that would be good to colour with my copics). She has a stamp collection to die for! She has also been a good customer of mine (thanks, Joanne!). I decided to add a few images of the hydrangea from SU’s Level 1 set for her to play with. I couldn’t make it because of work meetings and other errands I had to run. We hopefully will play a day trip in the next week to Buffalo, which is just about an hour away.

Here is the recipe:

Card Stock – PTI White, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist
Patterned Paper – Basic Grey “Eskimo Kisses”
Ink – Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamp Set – Lizzie Anne Designs “Say it in Script”
Accessories – Circle Nesties, Mulberry Flower, CB EF (D’Vine Swirls), dimensionals

That’s all for now. Thanks for having a look!
