Mojo Monday 176

I can’t belive it’s Monday again! Where did the weekend go? Well, Monday means it’s another Mojo Monday sketch challenge. What a great sketch this is! I don’t think it can get much simpler than this. I’ll always go for the square card over the round. Just a little faster for me, I think. I don’t want to fuss with a round card and I’m more traditional, I suppose. Here is my card for the day:

Here are the details:

Card Stock – 80 lb. Neenah (cream), Poppy Parade (SU)
Patterned Paper – MME
Stamp Set – Whimsical Words (SU – 2010 SAB)
Ink – Chocolate Chip (SU)
Accessories – Prima Flowers, gold brads

That’s it. Thanks for having a look today.

You crack me up!

Karen Giron always gives us a great sketch to work with every Sunday on her blog Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. This week’s sketch #102 is no different.

I decided to keep my card fairly simple too. I absolutely love the image of this lady who is having her (first?) cup of coffee. This is often how I feel in the morning! My hair is curly and if I don’t put it in a ponytail to sleep, I’d wake up just like this! Here is what I came up with:

Here are the deets:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Bravo Burgundy
Patterned Paper – MME
Ink – Momento Rich Cocoa, various copic markers
Stamp – Stepping Stones Designs
Accessories – punches, nesties, sewing machine

Thanks for having a peek!

Corrosive Challenge – Button it up!

Hi everyone. This week’s Corrosive Challenge is to use buttons on our creation. I love some of the sets from Paper Trey Ink., and I happened to have the Everyday Button Bits set, so, of course I had to use this for our challenge this week. I used a sketch from Card Patterns #100 as my starting point (I always need a sketch to work from). Here is the sketch:

I really like using buttons on my cards, but they are typically relegated to being the addition to my bow. Well, that was true today as well, but they were also part of my focal image. Here is the card I came up with:

So, here is how the card came together:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Early Espresso (SU)
Patterned Paper – K & Company “Poppy Seeds” Designer Mat Pad
Stamps – PTI Everyday Button Buts
Ink – Chocolate Chip (SU)
Accessories – Dark Brown Satin ribbon, PTI green vintage buttons, CB EF, green embroidery floss

I think that’s it for now. Thanks for having a look today!

Playdate Cafe Colour Challenge

This is my second post of the day, although I made this card last night. Here is this week’s “splash”: Lilac (or any shade of purple). We are to create a project using Black & White with a ‘splash’ of lilac/purple. Wow – I rarely use lilac, or any purple, really. “This is going to be interesting”, I said to myself! I knew I had some black and white patterned paper and some images with shades of gray, so that was my starting point. I loved all of the beautiful samples shown in the blog post, and wanted to keep my card fairly simple, yet classy (if I could pull it off). I also used the sample image in the post as my other inspiration. Here is what I came up with:

So, here is what I used to pull my card together:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Basic Black (SU)
Patterned Paper – DCWV
Stamp – sentiment from SU’s “All Holidays” set
Ink – Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories – SU oval punches, nestabilities fancy labels, heart charm, lilac ribbon, copic marker (to colour one of the roses)

Thanks for having a look today!

Viva la Verve February Week 1

I absolutely love participating in the Viva la Verve challenges. Each week, we are given a sketch and we are to create a card with it. I don’t own many Verve stamps (yet), but I love the ones I have and I use them over and over again. Here is the sketch we were given for this week:

I wanted to use something I’ve had for quite a long time but hadn’t used before – the square ProvoCraft die. I wasn’t sure how this would look, but thought I’d give it a shot. Here is what I came up with:

Here is what I used to put my card together:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Regal Rose (SU), pale pink (from my scrap stash)
Patterned Paper – Gossamer
Stamp – Beautiful You (Verve)
Ink – Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories – ProvoCraft square die, round nestabilities, pink organza ribbon, hat pin, pearls and beads, dimensionals

Thanks for having a look today – I hope you like it!

Double Challenge-Monochromatic Sketch

Hi again – I’m a stampin’ machine today! I am pooped from not sleeping well the past couple of nights. Part of my problem is that I sometimes nap after work and that RUINS me for the rest of the night. I decided to fight through the fatigue today so that I’ll crash at a decent hour (after watching American Idol auditions!). I am really enjoying checking out the Peachy Keen challenges. This week’s challenge is a sketch and a twist to use a monochromatic colour scheme. This card also qualifies for the Crafts and Me Challenge for a monochromatic card. I don’t make monochomatic cards very often, so thought this would be a good one to try. Here is the sketch:

I wanted to use some of the things I had on my craft table, namely the foliage. So I went from there and pulled out some scrap pieces of patterned paper. Here is what I came up with:

Here is how I put the card together:

Card Stock – Beige, Medium Brown, White
Patterned Paper – MME, retired SU
Ink – Early Espresso, Ranger Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Stamp – With All My Heart (SU)
Accessories – SU dies, Nestabilities Fancy Frame, MS pine punch, brad

I hope you like it as much as I do! Thanks for having a look!

Mojo Monday 175

Wow – I made two cards today and this is my third upload! I haven’t done that in ages! I really liked this week’s Mojo Monday 175 sketch.

I’m pleased with the way the following card turned out – it’s a good “pick-me-up” card:

Here are the goods:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore (I love the weight of this for my card base), Baja Breeze (SU)
Patterned Paper – MME, Chatterbox “Chocolate Tapestry”
Stamp – Lizzie Anne Designs
Ink – Momento Rich Cocoa
Accessories – pearls, beads, hat pin, organza ribbon, baja breeze grosgrain ribbon, self-adhesive half-pearls, nestabilities, dimensionals

C’est tout! Thanks for having a look today!

FTL 124 – Too Kind

I was up until 2:00 a.m. this morning making my card for the Fall-to-Layout 124 challenge. Here is the sketch we had to work with:

Now, you wouldn’t think that making a card with this clean & simple sketch would take me 2 hours, but it did! I played with the frame around the sentiment, using three or four of them until I found the one I liked best, and had to stamp it a few times because I smudged it, then tried using my nesties a few times until I found the one I liked best too. I didn’t have the sketch in front of me when I was making the card, so the bottom scallop layer is a little lower than it should be, but hey, we’re given a little creative license, right? Anyway, by the end of it all, this is what I was able to muster up:

Here are the goods:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Basic Black (SU), Ruby Red (retired SU)
Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye
Stamps – Aviary and Whimsical Words (both SU), Nestie-friendly Fancy Tags frame (StampingScrapping)
Ink – Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories – black gingham ribbon, scallop border punch (SU), Nestabilities Labels 4 (#3)

That’s it! Thanks for having a look today!

One Layer – Little Red Wagon

I am really trying to make much simpler cards. I have a tendency to want to just keep adding and adding things. I have a “thing” for patterned paper and typically add some to my cards. It gets frustrating though, when you don’t have the “right” pattern or colour. Well, the Little Red Wagon challenge took care of all of that for me with the One Layer Wonder Challenge #64. I have to admit, I CASED this pretty much exactly from this blog. I changed the colour from Artichoke to Old Olive, didn’t add pearls but added a ribbon and changed the sentiment. Here it is:

I decided to make two cards. The second one used an Embossing Folder and the sentiment is definitely the focal point:

Here are the supplies used:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore
Ink – Old Olive, Versafine Black Onyx
Stamps – PTI – Big & Bold Wishes
Accessories – MS Scoring Board, Quickutz EF (Frame), olive grosgrain ribbon

That’s it! Can’t get much simpler than this. Thanks for having a look.

Sweet Sunday

It’s been awhile since I made a card for Karen Giron’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. This is week #101. I haven’t made any Valentine’s cards yet, so thought I’d better get on it. This is a great, simple sketch and I can see kicking it up a notch or just keeping it really clean and simple. I decided to go with the latter, since I’m going to give this card to my DH and he doesn’t like masculine cards with ribbon. I hope he doesn’t mind the brads! Here’s the sketch:

I recently picked up a 6 x 6 pack of patterned paper at Dollarama. It had some nice designs and some I know I wouldn’t use. It only cost me $1.25, so I really couldn’t pass it up. I decided to use this patterned paper, since I wanted to keep the card as non-feminine as possible, while still making it seem like a Valentine’s card. Here is what I came up with:

Here is how the card came together:

Card Stock – 110 lb. white Strathmore, Early Espresso (SU)
Patterned Paper – Dollarama
Ink – Early Espresso
Stamp – Heart by Inkadinkadoo
Accessories – Oval Spellbinders Nestabilities, Heart brads (Dollarama), dimensionals

That’s it! Thanks for coming by for a look. Have a great day!
