Challenge-lover combo!

You know by now that I love to combine challenges! There are just so many great challenges and I want to do as many as possible, but with a busy work schedule, two kids in activities every night of the week and a hubby who has lots on the go too, I have to combine them to get them done. Here are the challenges I chose to combine for my card below: Our Creative Corner Challenge – Sentiments, Prairie Paper and Ink Sketch Challenge (AMYRS3), and the Three Clover Design Challenge #14 to use Black, White and 1 other color.

I used Gina K. 120 lb. card stock for my card base. This stuff is gorgeous. The card is so stiff. It is superior to any other card stock as a card base (and I love S-U card stock, but the Whisper White is not as good for a card base). I layered that with Basic Black. I stamped the “friends” flower from Hero Arts (Printed Flowers) in Black Stazon onto Whisper White and cut it out. I layered it on Riding Hood Red and cut that out too. I added a red & white check brad in the centre. I used the scallop punch on the other white layer and stamped the All Scallops flower on it. I used some black gingham ribbon and a few other brads to the card. I finished it off with a Rub-on sentiment from the Chit Chat package. This was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for having a look!

Two by Two plus Two

I’m participating in a couple of challenges this week, including today. Stampin’ Out Alzheimers is a great fundraising cause. If you haven’t joined in this yet, do it! This card combines the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge (SSSCSOA) and the Two by Two card challenge to use pink and brown on the card.
My card base is chocolate chip and I added some S-U patterned paper on top and below my main image. I used the Thoughts and Prayers and Three Little Words sets. I used my S-U markers in chocolate chip and pretty in pink to colour the flowers and branches. I layered flowers from Flower Fusion and crystal brads keep them together (we could only use two embellishments for the Two by Two challenge as well). I like the simplicity of the card and I love these colours! I hope to do a few more cards this week, especially for the Stampin’ Out Alzheimers cause.

MojoMonday Week 88

Hi guys! I finally got around to making a card. This was out of necessity as my boss hurt her back awhile ago but stoically tried to keep working. Unfortunately, she is off now for a few months. The Mojo Monday Week 88 sketch was the perfect opportunity to get going again. Here’s my card:
I used Gina K. 120 lb. card stock as my card base. I also used stamps from Gina K.’s “Down on the Farm” set. I stamped the piggy with black Staz On & watecoloured her with various S-U inks and my aquapainter. All of the other papers, brads and ribbon are from S-U. Now that I’ve made the effort to stamp, I hope to keep it up and to develop a few classes over the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone who supported the Stamp Swap/Sale last weekend. I think it was a big hit and I’ll try to do this again in about 6 months. Have a great day everyone!

Here we are!!

So sorry everyone for the HUGE gap in posts. I know it seems like Cathy and I dropped off the face of the earth. I almost did – I was in Newfoundland for a week! I was in St. John’s for a work-related conference from April 28th to May 1st and decided to find some long-lost relatives (I was actually the one that was long-lost, the rest of them were already there!). I spent 4 days with relatives on my mom’s side, aunts and uncles who I haven’t seen since my mom passed away almost 13 years ago and many, many cousins who I haven’t seen in 25 years! Wow, talk about an emotional roller-coaster. I’m not sure what came over me, but I experienced waves of emotion that came crashing on me for two solid days! I was a mess, but given my relatives knew there was a very strong connection to my mother and Random Island (that’s where she was from), they were gracious enough to just let me get it all out. I had a great time and flew back home on May 5th. So, why haven’t I posted anything since then, you ask? Well, I had great intensions of stamping but work got really busy over the next few days and I have been sick with the flu since Monday night!! I’m hoping to have enough energy over the weekend to stamp a little so as not to lose you guys! I’ll post some nice shots of the harbour where my relatives live in the next day or two as well. Hang in with us.
By the way, Cathy starts her new job on Monday! Way to go, Cath!
