Mojo Wishes

My girlfriend Laurel will be celebrating a birthday soon, so I thought I’d make her a card using today’s Mojo Monday 114 Sketch Challenge. I actually made a different card earlier today, but I didn’t like it at all, so I made another one. I have been impressed with some mostly white cards over at SCS for various challenges, so I took my inspiratio from that. Here is the Mojo sketch:
And here is my submission for the challenge:
My card base is 110 lb. white cs and I layered it with Melon Mambo and another layer of white cs embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile folder. I used a new Martha Stewart punch for the two top layers and tied a Melon Mambo grosgrain ribbon round it. I used the Best Wishes sentiment from Curly Labels and punched it out with the coordinating punch and layered it with a larger layer. I popped up the sentiment with dimensionals. I hope Laurel likes it!

Sitting back and relaxing…

This has been a pretty quiet weekend. My youngest son came down with the flu Friday night, so we couldn’t go to my husband’s family’s birthday get-together (a bunch of them have birthdays within a few weeks of each other) for fear of infecting the senior and baby population among them (moreso than the adults). So, I spent the day yesterday stamping – getting my sister’s Christmas cards done and doing a few challenges (I’ll post those cards separately). I’m just goofing around today too. I really should do something more productive than card-making since my back is starting to ache. This is my submission for last Friday’s Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #92
Here is the sketch:

Here’s my submission:
My hubby was complaining that I don’t have any “guy” cards. I had only recently purchased this set (Boys will be Boys) from Taylored Expressions because I really didn’t have many male-specific stamp sets. I’m glad now to have made one – I’ll probably make a bunch more so when he needs them, my DH can pick what he wants.

The card base is 110 lb. white. I layered some textured black over that. I am using up my scraps of Riding Hood Red (I LOVE that colour and should have stocked up on it last year). I stamped the BBQ and steak with Moment Black Tuxedo ink and coloured them with my copics. I’m just starting out with these wonderful markers, so I think it will take me time to figure out how to shade with them properly. The side panels are grey patterned paper that I’ve had laying in my stash for years. I added a few brads on the corners and punched out the sentiment and layered it. That’s it!

Deer Me – it’s Mojo time again!

I thought I was done with all of my Christmas card making for this year, after making a bunch of cards for my husband and best friend. I guess you never have enough on hand though, right? I’ve been wanting to play with my copic markers but was waiting for an ink pad to arrive – I received it yesterday (thanks for sending it dad), so I figured there is no better time than the present. My layout is from Mojo Monday Week 113. This is a cute sketch:

I used 110 lb. white card stock as my card base. I layered some textured black CS on top of that and a 2″ strip of polka dot grey patterened paper over that. For my middle panel, I used a coordinating patterned paper (it has snowflakes and a polka dot pattern with a hint of red). I tied some Riding Hood Red ribbon around the centre of it. For my main image, I stamped the deer in black ink and used copic markers in grey shades to colour it. I added a hint of red to her collar. I layered this panel wth a Riding Hood Red panel. I stamped the smowflake in black ink and punched it with a 1 1/4″ punch. I layered tht with RHR and a black scalloped circle. I added (too big) red rhinestones to the side of my image and the centre of the snowflake (hey, that’s all I had). I tied a bow to the top of my circle image. I’ll stamp a sentiment of some sort on the inside. Not traditional Christmas colours by any means, but I do love the way it turned out. Thanks for having a look!

Christmas Mojo

I haven’t made many cards lately because my hubby and I took a trip to Paris, France to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We had a fantastic time! I’ll post some pictures that we took. My husband is a pretty decent amateur photographer, so I think we’ll end up printing and framing a few to hang in the house. We did that last year on our trip to Britain and really liked how they turned out.
Here is my submission for today’s Mojo Monday Challenge #112

My card base is 110 lb. white card stock. I layered some patterened paper over that (I think this was Figgy Pudding paper). My sentiment and snow flaker are from Stampin’ Up! (Snow Swirled) stamped in Always Artichoke. I used my nesties to cut out and layer the snow flake. The middle circle layer is Sahara Sand. I added a hint of Bravo Burgundy for my tag layer and I added a big eyelet and some ribbon to finish it off (I can’t remember who I purchased this ribbon from). Thanks for having a look today.
