Life’s Moments

Holy smokes – I can’t stop stamping today! I think I was “dry” for so long, once I got a little bit of Mojo, I couldn’t control myself:) Today’s submission for the Truly Scrumptious sketch challenge #36, with the option of ‘How does your garden grow’? I have to admit, my flower image just “happened” to fit with the optional challenge, since I completely forgot about it when I was making this card. Isn’t that just serendipitous? This card is a little off of my usual style. I tried to incorporate and make the most of the 100th Color Throwdown challenge I sifted through all of my new 6 x 6 patterned paper packs until I found one that I thought was pretty close to the challenge colors (Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Real Red, Baja Breeze). I pulled out a stamp that I hadn’t used in ages as well as one I hadn’t used before! How’s that?! Here is my card recipe for those who’d like to know:

Card Stock – PTI White (for base, flower image & sentiment), Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Real Red
Patterned Paper – Basic Grey June Bug and Green at Heart
Stamps – Stampington & Co “Elegant Stems”, SU “Elements of Style” (sentiment)
Ink – SU markers in Baja Breeze, Real Red, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery; Momento Tuxedo Black
Accessories – PTI & Gina K. buttons, SU punches, dimensionals

I think I’m happy with it. What do you think of it?

Fifth Avenue Freshness

As usual, I combined a couple of challenges for my card. My grouping today is for the Color Throwdown #45 and Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge.

Here’s my take on the two challenges:

I used Chocolate Chip as my card base. I layered Pink Passion on top of that and added my two panels of S-U DSP on top of that. My flower image is from the Fifth Avenue Floral set. I stamped it using Timber Brown StazOn onto Watercolour paper. I used the ink from the Pink Passion lid and layered colour until I was happy with it. I cut that out and popped it up on the Whisper White card stock, which I had stamped the image on initially. I added a little Green Galore on the stem and used the same colour brads on the side. I layered the main image with Chocolate Chip and Green Galore and tied a brown satin ribbon on the whole thing. Thanks for having a look!

A two-fer challenge!

This card is a little different or me on two levels – I don’t normally use these kinds of images and the colour challenge was a little tricky. I incorporated the Color Throwdown #39 challenge to use Real Red, Basic Black and Barely Banana with the Sketches by Tamara challenge. I’m not sure who made the swirl stamp I used, but it was part of an unmounted set. There are some really cute other swirly stamps. I didn’t find they stamped very well and I had to use my black marker to fill in the spots. I think the rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory. The sentiment comes from Heard from the Heart set. I’m going to try to get to a few more cards today. See ya later!

Second Color Throwdown #37

Here is my second submission for the Color Throwdown challenge to use cameo coral, sage shadow and pink pirouette. I thought I’d try a one-layer card, which I hardly ever do. I really liked how this one turned out! I used Gina K.’s Comfort and Peace set along with 120 lb. card stock. My only embellishment is pink pirouette 5/8″ grosgrain ribbon. Thanks for having a look!

Color Throwdown 37

Here is my take on today’s Color Throwdown 37. I used a sketch challenge 58 from SCS for a little layout help. This is a pretty neat colour combo. I had this great patterened paper from Prima Marketing Inc. from the Tea and Silk Collection called “Katsura”. It is the perfect coral colour. I layered that on my Very Vanilla card base. I used the challenge colours in my flower from Soft Summer (S-U). I cut it out and popped it up on vanilla card stock that was embossed with the Damask Texturz plate. I layered that with Pink Pirouette and Sage Shadow panels. I used the Easter Wishes sentiment from the All Holidays set and punched it with my square S-U punches I used hand held punches so I could thread the pink gingham ribbon through. I finished it off with cream coloured self-adhesive circles.

Colour Throwdown #36

This is my submission for Color Throwdown #36. This one was a little tricky for me. I picked up the Stamper’s Sampler Take Ten magazine yesterday (yes, Cathy, you can look through it today – come on over). Jen del Muro has a layout and sample on page 22 and I thought I’d try that on for size. I struggled with my patterned paper choices a little, but I’m really happy with how this looks. I used a variety of patterned papers (4 of them), two of which are from the S-U Hostess package. My butterfly comes from Savvy Stamps. I used Versa Magic pigment inks (Pixie Dust, Rocket Red Gold and Pearlescent Rust) and stamped it on Very Vanilla. I then clear embossed and cut her out. I popped her on Turquoise patterned paper as well as Regal Rose and Tangerine Tango. The sentiment comes from the retired Best Yet stamp set. I wish they would bring this set back – it’s perfect to circle punch and layer. A few rhinestone brads and it’s done. It just kills me that it can take me over an hour to make one card! I guess you can’t rush art! I’d better think of someone special to give this to.

Colour Throwdown #35

Wow- this was a bit tough! I gave all of my old “in colours” to my niece a long time ago. I did keep the satin pomegranate ribbon ’cause I love it! I had to rumage through some of the old cards I made to salvage a scrap of pomegranate card stock. This is the best I could come up with. I was going to add primas and pearls, but you’ve got to know when enough is enough! I used the Fresh Cuts stamp set and popped the tangerine highlighted circle on top. Short post today – I’ve got to get to work!
