Mojo Wishes
My girlfriend Laurel will be celebrating a birthday soon, so I thought I’d make her a card using today’s Mojo Monday 114 Sketch Challenge. I actually made a different card earlier today, but I didn’t like it at all, so I made another one. I have been impressed with some mostly white cards over at SCS for various challenges, so I took my inspiratio from that. Here is the Mojo sketch:
And here is my submission for the challenge:
My card base is 110 lb. white cs and I layered it with Melon Mambo and another layer of white cs embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile folder. I used a new Martha Stewart punch for the two top layers and tied a Melon Mambo grosgrain ribbon round it. I used the Best Wishes sentiment from Curly Labels and punched it out with the coordinating punch and layered it with a larger layer. I popped up the sentiment with dimensionals. I hope Laurel likes it!

Sitting back and relaxing…
This has been a pretty quiet weekend. My youngest son came down with the flu Friday night, so we couldn’t go to my husband’s family’s birthday get-together (a bunch of them have birthdays within a few weeks of each other) for fear of infecting the senior and baby population among them (moreso than the adults). So, I spent the day yesterday stamping – getting my sister’s Christmas cards done and doing a few challenges (I’ll post those cards separately). I’m just goofing around today too. I really should do something more productive than card-making since my back is starting to ache. This is my submission for last Friday’s Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #92
Here is the sketch:

Here’s my submission:
My hubby was complaining that I don’t have any “guy” cards. I had only recently purchased this set (Boys will be Boys) from Taylored Expressions because I really didn’t have many male-specific stamp sets. I’m glad now to have made one – I’ll probably make a bunch more so when he needs them, my DH can pick what he wants.
The card base is 110 lb. white. I layered some textured black over that. I am using up my scraps of Riding Hood Red (I LOVE that colour and should have stocked up on it last year). I stamped the BBQ and steak with Moment Black Tuxedo ink and coloured them with my copics. I’m just starting out with these wonderful markers, so I think it will take me time to figure out how to shade with them properly. The side panels are grey patterned paper that I’ve had laying in my stash for years. I added a few brads on the corners and punched out the sentiment and layered it. That’s it!

Deer Me – it’s Mojo time again!
I thought I was done with all of my Christmas card making for this year, after making a bunch of cards for my husband and best friend. I guess you never have enough on hand though, right? I’ve been wanting to play with my copic markers but was waiting for an ink pad to arrive – I received it yesterday (thanks for sending it dad), so I figured there is no better time than the present. My layout is from Mojo Monday Week 113. This is a cute sketch:

I used 110 lb. white card stock as my card base. I layered some textured black CS on top of that and a 2″ strip of polka dot grey patterened paper over that. For my middle panel, I used a coordinating patterned paper (it has snowflakes and a polka dot pattern with a hint of red). I tied some Riding Hood Red ribbon around the centre of it. For my main image, I stamped the deer in black ink and used copic markers in grey shades to colour it. I added a hint of red to her collar. I layered this panel wth a Riding Hood Red panel. I stamped the smowflake in black ink and punched it with a 1 1/4″ punch. I layered tht with RHR and a black scalloped circle. I added (too big) red rhinestones to the side of my image and the centre of the snowflake (hey, that’s all I had). I tied a bow to the top of my circle image. I’ll stamp a sentiment of some sort on the inside. Not traditional Christmas colours by any means, but I do love the way it turned out. Thanks for having a look!

Christmas Mojo
I haven’t made many cards lately because my hubby and I took a trip to Paris, France to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We had a fantastic time! I’ll post some pictures that we took. My husband is a pretty decent amateur photographer, so I think we’ll end up printing and framing a few to hang in the house. We did that last year on our trip to Britain and really liked how they turned out.
Here is my submission for today’s Mojo Monday Challenge #112

My card base is 110 lb. white card stock. I layered some patterened paper over that (I think this was Figgy Pudding paper). My sentiment and snow flaker are from Stampin’ Up! (Snow Swirled) stamped in Always Artichoke. I used my nesties to cut out and layer the snow flake. The middle circle layer is Sahara Sand. I added a hint of Bravo Burgundy for my tag layer and I added a big eyelet and some ribbon to finish it off (I can’t remember who I purchased this ribbon from). Thanks for having a look today.

Mojo Monday #109
Here is my submission for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge # 109. I attended the Creativ Festival in Toronto last weekend and picked up a couple of stamps so I thought I’d use one from Stamping Bella (Charlotte Keto) with some new copic markers.

I used 110 lb. white card stock as my card base. I added some DSP from Stampin’ Up! and Crushed Curry as my foundation pieces. I stamped Charlotte with S-U Basic Black (I’m waiting on my Tuxedo Black from Momento as I understand that is the best ink to use copics with). I added colouring to Charlotte with various copic markers and layered her with a scalloped rectangle nestie frame. I used the Great Friend set from S-U and stamped the image in basic black. I layered it with the S-U scalloped circle punch and added dots with my Signo uniball white pen (that is not working very well). I popped both the main image and the sentiment with dimensionals from S-U and finished it with ribbon (Rich Razzleberry and retired Maize). I hope you like it! Thanks for looking!

Belated Mojo
I’m cutting it close getting this linked to the Mojo Monday blog. I really like this sketch (108). It took me a long time to figure out what stamps to use. I played around with a few different images, but settled on the Wanted set from S-U and Seeing Stars from Verve.
I used 110 lb. white card stock as my base. I added a layer of Dusty Durango. I stamped the horse in Soft Suede, generation style. I layered that with Soft Suede CS and used the corner punch and added pewter brads. Behind the main image is some patterned paper (I think it is either Bazzill or DCWV) and layered that with Soft Suede and also punched the corners out and added brads. I added Durango polka dot grosgrain ribbon. I stamped the small star from the Wanted set and punched it out with the small S-U star punch. The big star (Verve) was stamped in Soft Suede and punched with the large S-U star punch. I added a pewter brad to the centre. I used dimensionals to pop up the main image as well as the stars. I initally stamped the sentiment directly on the horse panel, but it was completely crooked! So, to mask my error, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece and punched it out with the word window punch and layered that on Durango (punched out too!). I’m sure my son will be able to use this for one of his buddies in the future. I’m glad this set got some ink – it’s been ages.

Splitcoast Color Challenge 239
Here is my submission for today’s colour challenge 239 over at Splitcoast. I haven’t done one of these for awhile:

I used the layout from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #3. I just love it when I can combine a couple of challenges! There are so many amazing blogs out there with great sketches – I wish I didn’t have to work so I could spend all day making cards. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who feels this way, but I guess we have to fund our obsession somehow, right? I used 110 lb. white card stock for my card base. I’ve had this We R Memory Keepers patterned paper for ages (Urban Window Collection – Restoration Bed Linen pattern) and have brought it out a million times to use it and ended up putting it back on the shelf. Well, today’s color challenge called for white, kraft and mellow moss. The green in the patterned paper is more like Kiwi Kiss, but most of it is covered anyway. I layered the patterned paper with kraft. I used a moss horizontal panel over that. I used Gina K’s Tag Lines sentiment (I need birthday cards in my stash). I used some prima flowers and aded a half pearl from the Pretties Kit to the centre. I used my Big Shot to cut out the leaf from the Birds and Blooms die set. I added a few dew drops to the moss panel. The sentiment is stamped in chocolate chip and smudged with my fingers! That’s it for today! Have a good one.

Double Mojo Monday
I decided to make two cards for today’s Mojo Monday 107 Sketch Challenge. Both are similar, but I think look completely different:

I used the Everyday Button Bits stamp set from Papertrey. I stamped the image and sentiment in Timber Brown Stazon. I cut it out and layered it with my nesties. The cardstock base is Dusty Durange and it has a layer of Old Olive on top of that. I had some air balloon patterned paper that I layered over the olive. I used my Texturz plates to add a little dimension to the durango small panels uder the main image. I used some of my Baba’s buttons for the balloons. I finished it off with some olive grosgrain ribbon and brads.

For this card, I used 110 lb card stock. I layered it with some bashful blue and some patterned paper that looks like the sky. My small blue panels are Brilliant Blue, which I faux stitched. I added a Riding Hood Red scalloped nestie circle under my main image. I used more of Baba’s buttons and finished it with blue brads.
Thanks for having a look!

Thank “ewe”
Here is the card I made for today’s Splitcoast Ways to Use It challenge. I wanted to make a simple card to highlight my fluffy ewe. She really is fluffy!!

The challenge was to try to jazz up our sentiments. We were to add bling over an i or in place of an o, switch out a letter or word for another object (for example in a “Happy cupcake day” sentiment you could place a little cupcake embellishment or stamp of a cupcake in place of the word), or just highlight a word somehow, maybe by coloring over it with a marker. It could be a simple, subtle jazz or a big whammy of a pizzazz!
I used 110 lb. card stock and layered a panel of S-U DSP and Crushed Curry. I stamped the ewe from Gina K.’s “Down on the Farm” in black Staz On. I added liquid applique and heat set it, which makes it puff up. I added some gray copics to her face and around the bottom of her body and legs to give it a little depth. I stamped the sentiment, “Thank ewe so much!” and punched out the “Thank” and “So Much!” with my punch and layered it a little with the curry and placed it on either side of my ewe, so the ewe replaces “you”. I used my nesties to layer the main image in Pumpkin Pie. I added a yellow adhesive rhinestone to each corner of the patterned paper for a little more bling. Thanks for having a look!

SC248 – Trendy Trees
Here is my submission for today’s Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge:

I haven’t done one a SCS sketch challenge recently so I thought it was about time. My card is pretty simple. I used 110 lb. white card stock as my base and I added some chocolate chip scalloped panels to each side of the Basic Grey patterned paper. I stamped the Tree from Trendy Trees (S-U) in Kiwi Kiss and Choc. Chip. I layered the image onto a Choc. Chip and Blush Blossom panel. I added dimensionals to the back to pop the image up a little and finished the card with some Dollar Store adhesive pearls in a blush colour and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (S-U). Thanks for having a look.
